The DIGITAL ICH Observatory is conducting a survey on Inventories & Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH). With this survey we intend to study the practices and opinions of users of ICH inventories.
This survey refers to the different domains of ICH - oral expressions (legends, folk tales, traditional songs ...); arts and crafts; social practices, celebrations and rituals; performing arts (popular theatre, traditional dance...) and knowledge and practices related to nature and the universe.

A capacity-building session took place in Terras de Monsalude (Castanheira de Pera, Figueiró dos Vinhos e Pedrogão Grande), on April 27-29, 2018. This meeting, organized by the Dutch Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage, will discuss methodologies, techniques and theoretical approaches to inventory intangible cultural heritage.

After several months collecting and organising in a single platform the work of the DCHPII project*, the Digital ICH Observatory website was launched on 4th July 2019.
In the “Community” section the Digital ICH observatory team encourages users to get involved and share digital ICH experiences. ICH stakeolders can access to essential ICH documentation in the “Resources” section and subscribe the Digital ICH Observatory newsletter in the “News" section.

A follow-up meeting of the Digital ICH Observatory took place in Lisbon, on January 14, 2018. At this gathering the structure and the graphic identity of the Observatory website was presented. The working group also discussed ways to disseminate the project.
Designed under the framework of the DCHPII project - Digital Cultural Heritage: Platforms and Inventories of the Intangible, the Digital ICH Observatory aims to produce, organize and analyse information on e-Inventories of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH). An online network available to share knowledge and practices.

This publication is the result of Filomena Sousa research on digital platforms and participatory methodologies for the safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH).

The researcher Filomena Sousa participated as keynote speaker at the International Congress on Cultural Mapping: Linking Heritage and Creative Tourism. The researcher presented the communication “Communities, Groups and Individuals and the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. Participatory Methodologies and Cultural Mapping”.
The congress' main goal was to promote a better understanding of how cultural mapping can propose actions that enhance the awareness of cultural identities, local development, community engagement and sustainable and creative tourism practices.

In representation of the NGO Memória Imaterial, we attended the 7th General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO. The General Assembly, which brought together 177 countries to discuss the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage, took place at UNESCO, in Paris, from June 4th to 6th, 2018.
Under the motto “Tell your #living heritage story”, different actors involved in the safeguarding of ICH (States Parties, NGOs, youth, community members and others) had the opportunity to share ICH experiences at several side-events of the Assembly.

The DCHPII project - Digital Cultural Heritage: Platforms and Inventories of the Intangible - was in Budapest to present the Map of e-Inventories of Intangible Cultural Heritage at the DH_BUDAPEST_2018 - International Congress of Digital Humanities.
The Map of e-Inventories of ICH is a collaborative digital project that provides access to over 160 e-Inventories. A project that seeks to reinforce networking and stakeholders’ participation.
